The Underside — Lands of Orunthys

a Reach · four lands · levels 162–192

The Underside

This is no longer a land — it is its reflection. A mirror forest, an inverted chapel, a garden of bones and the Throne from which the Blight rules the world.

Lands

The Underside is the last Reach and the end of the road: its lands open from level 162, ten levels apart, and its creatures are strong in everything at once. The thread of the Blight here is thicker than a rope and leads to the Throne — to the Blight Lord himself.

Mirror Forest (from level 162) — “Reflections live a life of their own here”. Doubles and shards: they strike first and hard. Found here: Mirror Wolf, Mirror Double, Glass Butterfly, Inverted Stag, Shard Imp, Mirror Snake and Whisper in the Glass. The pack is led by Keeper of Mirrors and Mirror Golem; the Reflected Keeper waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Mirror Campfire: errands are given there. Otra, the the girl from the mirror, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “The Great Mirror” (look into the Great Mirror and learn whom it remembers), “Doubles” (slay 6 Mirror Doubles — they walk around wearing other people's faces).

Chapel of the Inverted (from level 172) — “Prayers here sound backwards”. Candles and stained glass: fragile, but they burn. Found here: Inverted Monk, Candle Imp, Flying Pew Mimic, Stained-Glass Spirit, Organ Worm, Bell Raven and Faceless Chorister. The pack is led by Inverted Bishop and Blighted Angel; Voice of the Underside waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Pulpit Campfire: errands are given there. Vespera, the candle-keeper of the chapel, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “The Inverted Choir” (return the souls of three creatures of the Chapel of the Inverted — let them finish their prayer), “The Inverted Altar” (reach the inverted altar and learn whose candle burns upward).

Garden of Bones (from level 182) — “White flowers grow only on bones”. Bones and moths: fast and poisonous. Found here: Bone Gardener, Skull Flower, Bone Hound, White Moth, Rib Spider, Blooming Corpse and Bone Bird. The pack is led by Bride of the Garden and Bone Giant; Gardener of Death waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Campfire in the Flowers: errands are given there. Ossian, the gardener of the Garden of Bones, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “Sowers of the Dead” (slay 8 Bone Gardeners — they tear open the graves), “The White Flower” (reach the White Flower and learn whose bones it grew from).

Throne of the Blight (from level 192) — “From here the Blight rules the world”. The heart of the Blight: everything at once — armor, poison and speed. Found here: Blightmorph, Shade of the Throne, Crystal Horror, Lesser Soul Eater, Violet Vortex, Blight Drakeling and Herald of the Blight. The pack is led by Warden of the Throne and Blight Hydra; the Blight Lord waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Campfire of the Underside: errands are given there. The First Keeper, the shade of the first Keeper, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “Shades of the Throne” (slay 6 Shades of the Throne — once the First Keeper's students), “The Foot of the Throne” (reach the foot of the Throne and look at the First Keeper's chains).

Chapter 5, “The Reaches”: each of the four campfires gives three errands — “The Approaches” (fell 15 creatures of the land), “Pack Leaders” and “Lord of the Land”. Whoever closes every errand of the Reach earns the title “Conqueror of the Underside”.

The Reach’s finale: after the last lord, at the Campfire of the Underside, the Keeper chooses how the story ends. “Shatter the Throne” — the Throne crumbles to dust. The reflections, voices and shades the Blight held captive go home — and the First Keeper goes with them (chance to return a soul in the Underside +8%, title “Breaker of the Throne”); “Stand Watch” — the Throne stays empty, and you keep the watch. The First Keeper goes to his rest, and the roads of the Underside lie open to the living — with everything the Blight hoarded for centuries (battle gold in the Underside +15%, title “Warden of the Empty Throne”). The choice is made once.
