The Blight has woken the rocks themselves, and the stone underfoot is warm. Deep in the rift an ancient warden sleeps, and inside him an Echo of the mountains is locked.

In the rift the Blight woke the rocks themselves: the stone underfoot is warm and breathing. Deep below sleeps an ancient warden, and inside him is locked the Echo of the mountains — the very Garr who will come.
Both first chapters end here as well: first the Rift Titan, then — in the same place — the Echo of the Titan, stepping out of the stone as a song.
