Sky Reach — Lands of Orunthys

a Reach · four lands · levels 114–126

Sky Reach

A road above the clouds: hanging gardens, storm spires, a monastery where the bells ring by themselves, and the shards of a fallen moon.

Lands

The Blight reached even here — along vines, along lightning, along moonlight. The Sky Reach is fast: its creatures are more fragile but move sooner and strike first, and at the campfires the wind blows so hard that the fire burns sideways and people shield it with their hands.

Hanging Gardens (from level 114) — “Gardens that grow above the clouds”. Vines and thorns: serpents strangle, butterflies blind. Found here: Vine Serpent, Garden Mantis, Flower Imp, Cloud Butterfly, Mossy Guardian, Blighted Hummingbird and Rootpaw. The pack is led by Gardener of the Skies and Flower Colossus; Mother Tree of the Gardens waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Garden Campfire: errands are given there. Mirra, the gardener of the hanging gardens, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “Strangling Vines” (slay 8 Vine Serpents — they strangle the island's roots), “The Sky Fountain” (reach the Sky Fountain and learn what pulls its water down).

Isle of Storm Spires (from level 118) — “Lightning strikes twice here”. Storm and speed: vultures and eels strike first. Found here: Storm Vulture, Spark Elemental, Copper Automaton, Storm Eel, Thunder Goat, Wind Spirit and Ball-Lightning Jellyfish. The pack is led by Herald of the Storm and Thunder Golem; Storm Dragon waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Storm Campfire: errands are given there. Stribor, the lightning-catcher, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “The Lightning Rod” (climb to the lightning rod and learn why it has gone silent), “Storm-Drinkers” (slay 6 Spark Elementals — they drink the lightning before it strikes).

Cloud Monastery (from level 122) — “The bells ring by themselves”. Monks and wardens: a firm line and quick lunges. Found here: Cloud Monk, Bell Spirit, Crane Sentinel, Prayer-Flag Serpent, Porcelain Lion, Mist Monkey and Lotus Imp. The pack is led by Blighted Abbot and Jade Guardian; Celestial Ox waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Campfire by the Flags: errands are given there. Tenzin, the bell-ringing monk, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “Brothers in the Mist” (return the souls of three creatures of the Cloud Monastery — Tenzin's brothers), “The Mute Bell” (strike the Mute Bell at the monastery's edge).

Shards of the Moon (from level 126) — “The moon cracked — and fell here”. Void and silver: star spiders sting. Found here: Blighted Moon Rabbit, Silver Slime, Star Spider, Crater Beetle, Void Ray, Shard Spirit and Moon Wolf. The pack is led by Priestess of the Eclipse and Meteor Golem; the Shattered Moon waits in the lair. The people’s camp is the Crater Campfire: errands are given there. Selena, the stargazer, waits at the fire. Besides the three common errands, this campfire has a story of its own: “Moon Thieves” (slay 8 Moon Rabbits — they carry the Moon's light off into their burrows), “The Heart of the Moon” (reach the Heart of the Moon and hear what it wants).

Chapter 5, “The Reaches”: each of the four campfires gives three errands — “The Approaches” (fell 15 creatures of the land), “Pack Leaders” and “Lord of the Land”. Whoever closes every errand of the Reach earns the title “Skywalker”.

The Reach’s finale: after the last lord, at the Crater Campfire, the Keeper chooses how the story ends. “Return the Heart to the Sky” — the Heart rises, and the Moon is whole again. The isles sink lower, but the dead find their way by moonlight (chance to return a soul in the Sky Reach +8%, title “Who Returned the Moon”); “Leave the Heart to the Isles” — the Heart stays in the crater and holds the isles up. Bridges run between the gardens and the spires again — and so do traders (battle gold in the Sky Reach +15%, title “Who Holds the Sky”). The choice is made once.
